Unchained Melody

"So, how long will you be gone?" Janelle asked.

"I don't know. But I don't think I'm coming back." Nick replied "But I'm sure we'll see each other again."

"I hope so. Nick I-"

"Nick! Come on. We're leaving!" His older brother called.

"I"M COMING! Well this is good bye."  

"But not forever... right?"

"Right.  Hey, Janelle... let's promise to meet up again someday."

"Yeah. pinky swear promise?"

"Yeah, pinky swear."

And with that, Nick left to his car and waved good bye to his friend. Janelle felt a tear fall down her face, as she watched her best friend drive away.

5 years later

"JANELLE! JANELLE!" A girl screamed form the bottom of the stairs. It was Maddie, Janelle's best friend since middle school. Maddie was dancing around the room with two tickets in her hand. Janelle knew this could not be good.

"Guess what these are." She said waving the tickets in Janelle's face.

"Two front row seats to see the bogie man." Janelle teased.

"Oh ha ha very funny. NO! They are tickets for the Jonas Brother's Concert!" Maddie was obsessed with the Jonas brothers ever since Janelle met her.  Janelle raised her eyebrow at her excited friend.  "Why aren't you celebrating?"

"How did you get them? I thought the concert was sold out?" Janelle asked.

"Look I know people. Come on, the concert is tomorrow."

Janelle sighed and then laughed.

"Okay, I'll go."

Maddie squealed and hugged Janelle. Once she left, Janelle went on her computer and got on her email. There was one new message from a familiar name. She clicked on the email with her heart pounding.

"Dear Janelle,

How are you? Wow, it has been so long since I have seen you. I wish you could see us now. Kevin is engaged, Joe... well he never changed, and me, I'm not the same 14 year old that you remember. I'm going to be in the area, and I was wondering if you would like to hang out for a little while. Please write back to me soon.
See you later."

Janelle screamed with excitement and printed out the email.

"MOM! Looked who emailed me."

Her mom read the email, sighed, and looked at her daughter.

"You know he probably isn't going to be left alone."

"I know but he kept his promise."

"Not yet he didn't."

Janelle looked at her mother and laughed. She ran up the stairs and swung her cat around. Landing on her bed, she hugged her cat and squealed.

"Oh Damian. I can't wait to see him and how much he has changed."
