Chapter 2~

After Janelle invited the R5 crew to stay a few days at her home they went back to the coffie shop to talk more about the situation until Janelle's shift was over. Once that happened they followed Janelle back to the house. It wasn't anything like they expected. It was a brick house with a broken down roof. The deck was splintered with paint that looked like it had been pealing for years. They looked at each other wondering what kind of world this girl loved in. They followed her inside, and it looked much better than the outside. The kitchen was painted with bright colors, and the living-room was the same way. Ross looked over in the corner of the living room and saw a pine tree.

"When did your parents leave?"

"Oh about a month ago. My grandparents live down there, but they haven't been doing too well." Janelle said hanging her coat over the dining room chair.

"Don't you get lonely?" Rydel asked.

Janelle walked back out to the living-room.

"Sometimes... But I'm used to it." She replied. "Uh anyway the room downstairs is available. You can use my parents room, or my/sister's old room, and I can sleep on the couch."

"You don't have to sleep on the couch." Riker said.

"I sleep better on the couch." Janelle smiled.

Ross looked at her with a stubborn eyes.

"look you aren't sleeping on the couch and that's final!" He said putting his hands on her shoulders. "You don't have to treat us special. I'll take the couch okay?"

Janelle sighed, and shook her head.

"Is he always this stubborn?" She asked.

"Only when he likes a girl." Rocky laughed.

Janelle and Ross both blushed making everyone laugh.

"Aww! They're both blushing. That's so cute!" Ellington bursted.

"Guys come on! I'm sure Janelle has a boyfriend right?" Ross said looking with pleading eyes towards Janelle.

"Actually I do." Janelle said looking back at Ross.

He gave her a weird face that she couldn't tell if it was sad, or relived. Or maybe he had to use the bathroom? She kinda felt sorry for him at first because I don't think he wanted it to be true.

----

That night Janelle sat in her room waiting for the clock to strike 8. She had a mini cupcake with one candle in it sitting on her night stand. She had her iPod resting alongside of her as she had a pencil and paper. She has a love of drawing flower, and was actually pretty decent at it. She loved how she could listen to music and get lost in the art. It seemed like the only way she could escape reality and be herself.

She felt the covers rustle making her jump, and the pencil went flying. Janelle's head shot up to see Ross on the end of the bed. She yanked out her ear buds, and huffed.

"Ross? What are you trying to do give me a heart attack?" She said pausing her music.

"Sorry. I got lonely, and bored."

Ross looked down next to him, and saw the pencil. He picked it up and handed it to her.

"Thanks." She tried not to blush.

"So what are you drawing?"

"A flower. Like the ones all over this wall."

"I see. They are really good. Can I see the one you're drawing now?"

"Sure. It's not done yet though."

Janelle handed him the sketch. The flower was half colored in, and half looked still sketchy.

"You know what would be cool?" Ross asked.

"What?"

"If you draw a hand drawing the flower."

"That's actually a pretty cool idea. Do you mind if I use your hand?"

Ross laughed.

"I don't mind at all.

Janelle gave him a pencil to hold, and began to sketch. She glanced back and forth and she could have sworn that the one time she looked up that he was smiling that goofy grin that all guys get when they stare at a girl. Maybe he did like her, but she couldn't think like that now.

"Okay finished." She turned the paper around.

"Now that's cool. Where did you learn to draw like that?"

"Actually it's all just curvy and straight lines. Not that hard."

Janelle looked over at the clock and it had just turned 8. She reached over and light the candle on the cupcake.

"Happy birthday to me." She whispered.

Janelle blew out the candle. Ross frowned.

"Are you always alone on your birthday?" He asked.

Janelle looked up at him, then down at her drawing.

"Sometimes. My parents go down to visit my grandparents a lot because there is so much wrong with them, and my sister lives up at my grandmothers old house so it gets lonely from time to time." She smiled at him. "But I'm glad that I was able to meet you guys. Probably one of the coolest birthdays I've had in a while."

"And no one deserves to be alone on their birthday." He smiled.

Janelle smiled.

Before they both knew they fell asleep laying next to each other.
